Why do so many people struggle with their relationship with God?
I believe there are 5 common struggles that a follower of Christ goes through. These struggles can bring interference between a believer and their relationship with the Father.
1. Having Faith ...
We can hear a lot about having faith, but when it comes to it, we lack the ability to have that unwavering faith that the bible talks about. There really isn't any convenient advice out there to help us with HAVING FAITH!
2. Feeling Unworthy ...
The feeling of unworthiness tends to come from how much we measure ourselves with our own rulers. We somehow start to think for God (incorrectly at that!), as if we know how God truly feels in His heart toward us. The silly thing about it is that we lean more on the end of God being utterly disappointed in us than the end of Him having the desire to EMBRACE US IN LOVE.
3. Connecting with God ...
There is a lot of time that goes by before we begin to realize that God isn't as far as we thought. It's kind of misfortunate that we spend so much time building up the courage and nerve to come to Him in prayer when the access is readily available to us as long as we come to Him with our purest of hearts.
4. Adjusting the Heart and Mind ...
Our upbringing and experiences created patterns and beliefs in our hearts and minds that can't easily be changed. They can either be adopted into our lifestyle voluntary or involuntary. Sometimes they can conflict with the things that God designed to be just and right, and in some way we find ourselves not being big fans of the way He created things.
5. Walking in Purpose ...
Living out our purpose can seem like a taboo thing to talk about. People buy the lie (or maybe rent it from time to time) that there isn't any special purpose that they should be walking in and therefore, live life in a way that doesn't require much seeking God. When there isn't a focus on pursuing what God has put you on this earth to do, you can bet that you are probably spending more time figuring things our for yourself and leaving Him on the backburner.
