Meditating On The Word Of God

It seems like meditating on the Word of God has become a lost art.  It's importance, even in a self-proclaimed Christian's life has come to none.

Don't get me wrong, I know that people's minds are filled up with so many things that one would deem important in their life. However, the Word of God is foundational tool that we are suppose to base our decisions off of and not something that we "try" to make time to think about.

When you really think about it, it makes a whole lot more since why people get themselves into trouble that they never saw themselves getting into. All because the Word of God wasn't something that was on autopilot in their mind.

Autopilot in their mind? Yes, and that only comes by meditating on the Word of God.

So, how do you meditate on the Word of God?

First and foremost, you HAVE TO READ IT in order to meditate on it. There are many Christians and God-lovers that never take out the time to read scripture. There are even some that believe that the Holy Bible isn't true and that it's filled with a bunch of malarkey. I am sure that the way that they go about their daily lives will mirror those beliefs.

I get really disappointed when I see that people have a wall up against reading the Word of God because God actually gifted it to us so that we may be blessed by it. Nonetheless, people see it as a book that was made to bring destruction to the world when in fact, it is the very opposite of that.

Secondly, the words in the scriptures are meant to leave an imprint on your heart. They are suppose to pierce the deepest and most vulnerable parts of you so that it may bring healing to those areas that need to be revitalized. The scriptures are seeds and your heart is the soil. You have to let the seeds sink deep and take root. In turn, the Word starts to create a new sense of awareness within your life.

The third thing is that once it pierces your heart, you have to let it do the work that its meant to do in you. This word should have a place in your heart for as long as you live. There will be a season in your life whether now or 20 years from now where the words that were planted in your heart will resurface to help you whenever you need it. That is how the Word of God works!

Now, the final point when it comes to meditating on the Word of God is to discipline your heart and mind to not sweep the Word under the rug. The Word is there to protect, to keep and to guide you. Sit in the truth and comfort of the Word. It will always tap you on the shoulder when you need it the most. It's going to embrace you like a warm hug to let you know that as long as you can believe in it, you will be just fine.

Also, we have to connect the dots that come from the Word and piece it together in our daily life. We have to be mindful of how the words throughout the pages can apply to our life and how we can use them to make better decisions and to become better people. You have to carry the words of what you've read with you long after you read them. They don't just remain in the pages.

And there you have it! Meditating on the Word day and night... A discipline that is developed over time and not overnight. You should be patient with yourself but you have to hold yourself accountable in the same manner. Meditate on the Word so much that you can grasp the significance of its power and how much it actually benefits your life. Recognize that the Word is meant to be a cheat code in this game that we call life. Be the one to come out on top!
